Due to the geographical and topographical variation in Nepal, the
remote areas have not been fully integrated
into the reach of modern day technology for
the rapid socio economic development and
bringing it into the national mainstream. A
vital need have been felt to adopt the
modern ICT perspectives in the global
context of Nepal.
Community Information Center was established
in Syangja, Mayatari on 2nd
October 2005 with the initiation of Nepal
Rural Information Technology Development
Society (NRIDS) along with the participation
of the local people.
With this ICT development in mind, NRIDS (Nepal Rural
Information Technology Development Society)
established in 2061 makes a primary step for
the establishment of CIC (Community
Information Center) facilities at the grass
root level in the rural areas of Nepal
(Syangja).Information technology is
necessary for the economic growth of the
nations and with these objectives CIC was
established.
CIC was established to end the digital divide by making IT awareness in
the
rural areas by letting people know what IT
is and what it can do for the economic
growth and development. IT revolution is
based on knowledge and knowledge is the only
thing that can be shared without dividing.
By sharing it, it is not divided, on
contrary, it gets multiplied this is what
NRIDS believes.
The
Community Information Center
